Holy Grail Products for Effective & Affordable Whitening of the Bikini Area

Whether you are a Mestiza or Morena, both beauties experience a plethora of skin concerns. The most common is the darkening of our intimate areas especially when you are a plus-sized woman (or man!). It may sound easy to deal with because of so many options in the beauty market but in all honesty, it's the most frustrating thing to treat especially when all you can afford is a homemade remedy. Your self-confidence starts to waver when the results take too long to come as promised. It is very difficult to flex your favorite bikini because people might judge you so we tend to walk or sit a certain way to hide it or in a worst-case situation, we would just cover it up entirely by wearing a scarf around it or with a pair of shorts.

As a lady with thick thighs, I enjoy the fact that I look great in fitted jeans and leggings among other awesome things (and I take pride in it!), however, the downside of this is the constant chaffing that ruins the fabric on the crotch area of the jeans, and with friction results to the darkening of the inner thighs. I have tried so many products and have done so many DIY treatments to help but all of them were a waste of money and time and visiting beauty clinics to have it lasered was never an option for me because I can't afford them.

Throw out your rough whitening soaps and expensive creams because here is Mink PH to the rescue!

They offer a vibrant array of products created by an all-girls team of colorful, fresh-minded individuals dedicated to helping women flaunt their unique beauty to the world.

Allow me to introduce their products that will dethrone all other whitening products you have and will absolutely save your cheeky peaches: Peek-ini Bikini Serum and I Am Booty-ful Butt Scrub!
The Peek-ini Bikini Serum helps remove dead skin cells around the thinner thigh and butt cheeks. A thin application of this works wonders, thanks to the 3 main ingredients present in the product: glycolic acid, beta arbutin, and allantoin. Let's learn about them real quick, shall we?
Glycolic Acid is an exfoliant that is derived from sugar cane helping shed dead skin cells and reveal newer layers of skin. Because it's an exfoliant, it's best to start small if you have sensitive skin or prone to irritation.

Beta Arbutin is a natural lightening agent derived from the leaves of berries that treat hyperpigmentation. It is believed to be less aggressive and less damaging to the skin which is also good news if you have sensitive skin, unlike other products that have synthetic ingredients mixed with alcohol which causes more harm.

Allantoin is a keratolytic agent that helps shed dead skin cells and helps soften a tough layer of the skin keeping it smooth as the baby's butt. It is naturally found in several plants such as sugar beet, comfrey, chamomile, and wheat sprouts.

It's very easy to introduce the product to your skin - apply it every other day for a week before sleeping. It is best to do it at nighttime to allow it to do its magic effectively. If no adverse reaction, use once a day. When used regularly, you will notice a micro-peeling effect on the skin. No need to panic if it occurs. Just let the skin rest for a week and reintroduce again.

A little fun fact: their old packaging was a roll-on (shown below). Back then, I thought it was a great idea since it's a convenient way to apply it because I don't have to use my hands directly but unfortunately, it didn't work most times and I remember having to remove the roll-on cap and dab it onto my fingers like it's baby oil. This new product packaging is way better because it's sturdier, more hygienic, easier to apply, and the label won't smudge whenever you need to sanitize it or if you want to store it in your bathroom.

The greater news is, it has no scent at all which is a haven to me. Personally, I don't like any scent on any products I use around my intimate area. If in case they do, I don't want it to be overpowering or too strong.

On to the next product!

The Booty-Ful Butt Scrub helps smoothen bumps and butt acne, exfoliates dead skin cells making it brighter and plumper. I personally use it to help scrub away all the peeling dead skin on my inner thighs after using Peek-ini Serum. If you are planning on doing the same, please use this gently since the skin on the inner thighs is thinner than the rest. It's best to use the massage scrub on the desired area after washing it with bath soap. Rinse with lukewarm water and use up to 3x a week.
The scrub has a fruity smell that I really enjoy smelling every time I open the tub. The ingredients that I have taken notice of are the Himalayan Salt, Dead Sea Salt, and Tea Tree Oil. The Himalayan Salt is known as a food additive to replace table salt and reduces scaling, redness, and irritation.

I believe that everybody has heard of the Dead Sea and its natural byproduct, the Dead Sea Salt. It contains more minerals than a normal sea salt that helps to cleanse, detoxify, and restore damaged and inflamed skin. Plenty of people fly over the Middle East to visit the infamous salt lake to soak because of its proven health and beauty benefits. Now, we don't have to book a flight to enjoy its advantages.
Lastly, Tea Tree Oil is the popular choice for treating acne and scars because its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties leave your skin smooth and clear.

Before using these products, don't forget to patch test first. Use a small amount on the inside of your elbow or the underside of your jaw. Wait for 10-15 mins. If no redness, itching, or stinging occurs, you can apply the product to the entire area. Although if you do experience these signs, stop immediately and consult your dermatologist. Do not use it on open wounds as the product may sting.

My personal reason why I don't resort to whitening soaps or DIY mixtures anymore is that they are filled with harsh ingredients that make it worse for my intimate area. Lemon and baking soda may also ruin your pH balance so leave those in the kitchen. Plus, the serum and the scrub last longer compared to other products because you don't need much to see results. A 30ml bottle of serum (Php349 or US$8~) and a 300g tub of scrub (Php549 or US$12~) can last up to 2-3 months, depending on how many pumps or scoops of product you use every week.

I have tried these on my underarms, too. Even though it worked for me, it is still not advised to use them often because of the formulation. Your skin's sensitivity on your bikini area is different on your armpits so it might not react the same. Although if you don't experience any irritation, you may do so. Rule of thumb: always patch test. I have reached out to them asking if they are coming out with an underarm product and they said it's a huge possibility since so many people have been requesting it! So keep a close eye on any announcements by following them on their social media!
